Saudi Arabia has 100,000 tents siting empty that can accommodate 3 million people

Another Islam Story you will not read in Australian Newspapers

While European countries are being lectured about their failure to take in enough refugees, Saudi Arabia – which has taken in precisely zero migrants – has 100,000 air conditioned tents that can house over 3 million people sitting empty.

The sprawling network of high quality tents are located in the city of Mina, spreading across a 20 square km valley, and are only used for 5 days of the year by Hajj pilgrims. As the website Amusing Planet reports, “For the rest of the year, Mina remains pretty much deserted.”

The tents, which measure 8 meters by 8 meters, were permanently constructed by the Saudi government in the 1990’s and were upgraded in 1997 to be fire proof. They are divided into camps which include kitchen and bathroom facilities.

The tents could provide shelter for almost all of the 4 million Syrian refugees that have been displaced by the country’s civil war, which was partly exacerbated by Saudi Arabia’s role in funding and arming jihadist groups.

However, as the Washington Post reports, wealthy Gulf Arab nations like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and others have taken in precisely zero Syrian refugees. Although Saudi Arabia claims it has taken in 500,000 Syrians since 2011, rights groups point out that these people are not allowed to register as migrants. Many of them are also legal immigrants who moved there for work. In comparison, Lebanon has accepted 1.3 million refugees – more than a quarter of its population.

While it refuses to take in any more refugees, Saudi Arabia has offered to build 200 mosques for the 500,000 migrants a year expected to pour into Germany.

tent-city-arabia-2

Saudis argue that the tents in Mina are needed to host the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, but given that the Arabic concept of Ummah is supposed to offer protection to all Muslims under one brotherhood, surely an alternative location could be found so that Mina can be repurposed to house desperate families fleeing war and ISIS persecution?

While Europe is being burdened by potentially millions of people who don’t share the same culture or religion as the host population, Gulf Arab states refuse to pull their weight, resolving only to throw money at the problem.

The likelihood of the Saudis inviting Syrian refugees to stay in Mina is virtually zero, but the thousands of empty tents serve as a physical representation of the hypocrisy shared by wealthy Gulf Arab states when it comes to helping with the crisis.

ZOMBIES FROM THE DEEP SURFACE AGAIN

May 25th 2010 we published this story with concern to government pollution of our oceans. Maybe this explains the shoals of dead and deformed fish appearing around NSW coastline, for the politicians took no notice in 2010 and we may expect the same result today.

Burned hand in 2004 by a mustard gas shell

SOS-NEWS released a small segment on toxic waste dumping in our near off-shore waters in an earlier issue. This story received quite some attention from the South Coast fraternity of New South Wales. Initially it was apparent that many down that way wished that this issue would just slide under the carpet and not rear it”s ugly dangerous head on their patch.

Then, obviously some in that neck of the woods did a little research of their own and as far as we can tell, a bit of pressure was put on to the Coastal Rights association to look into this time bomb and in so doing they contacted SOS-NEWS. Discussions re this matter ensued and the CRA decided that they would consider the issue.

After a period CRA came back to SOS-NEWS and although they were coming to a conclusion from their own research into this poisoning of Australia”s future, they wished to take the matter on themselves. The deal agreed to by SOS-NEWS and CRA was to allow the CRA time to contact Politicians of their choice and attempt to get (a) recognition of the problem (b) political movement towards addressing the immediate concerns, and (c) Political management of the public”s right to knowledge of the seriousness of the problem.

SOS-NEWS reluctantly agreed to this on the proviso that there would only be a short time frame given to allow the Political leaders to come to the table with CRA. CRA advised that they would write to a number of senior politicians and keep SOS-NEWS abreast of the responses, thereby giving both them and us a clear indication that this was not going to be a political snow job, as almost all else in the state of NSW has been since the post Carr, now Iemma government has delivered to the citizens since they have been and are still in power.

We have now heard from CRA and they have advised of the response they have received, but first, the letter CRA sent to 24 Politicians across this Nation.

Water Peril Water & Hope

courtesy Google Images

James Famiglietti, a leading hydrologist at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, wrote a recent article in Nature Climate Change entitled, “The global groundwater crisis”. In that article, he warns that, based on satellite imagery analysis, “most of the major aquifers in the world’s arid and semi-arid zones, are experiencing rapid rates of groundwater depletion.”

Worse, “nearly all of these aquifers underlie the word’s great agricultural regions and are primarily responsible for their high productivity.

“These water-deficient agricultural regions include California which, based on satellite image data, has less than one year of water remaining :

“Data from NASA satellites show that the total amount of water stored in the Sacramento and San Joaquin river basins – that is, all of the snow, river and reservoir water, water in soils and groundwater combined – was 34 million acre-feet below normal in 2014. That loss is nearly 1.5 times the capacity of Lake Mead, America’s largest reservoir.

“California been dropping more than 12 million acre-feet of total water yearly since 2011. Roughly two-thirds of these losses are attributable to groundwater pumping for agricultural irrigation in the Central Valley. Farmers have little choice but to pump more groundwater during droughts, especially when their surface water allocations have been slashed 80% to 100%. But these pumping rates are excessive and unsustainable.

California has only about one year of water supply left in its reservoirs, and our strategic backup supply, groundwater, is rapidly disappearing.

There is no contingency plan.

• According to an A.D. 2013 article in Slate magazine entitled “The C-free Diet”:

“California produces a sizable majority of many American fruits, vegetables, and nuts: 99 percent of artichokes, 99 percent of walnuts, 97 percent of kiwis, 97 percent of plums, 95 percent of celery, 95 percent of garlic, 89 percent of cauliflower, 71 percent of spinach, and 69 percent of carrots (and the list goes on and on). Some of this is due to climate and soil.

“No other state, or even a combination of states, can match California’s output per acre. Lemon yields in California, for example, are more than 50 percent higher than in Arizona. California spinach yield per acre is 60% higher than the national average. Without California, supply of all these products in the United States and abroad would dip, and in the first few years, a few might be nearly impossible to find. Orchard-based products in particular, such as nuts and some fruits, would take many years to spring back.”

• The implications are obvious. If California runs out of water next year, the domestic supplies of many fruits and vegetables will probably diminish. The prices of fruits and vegetables will probably rise.

Food shortages are possible.

Food riots are unlikely in the near term, but within a year or three, conceivable.

If we have a year before California runs out of water, it might be a good idea to use this year as an opportunity to establish your own garden or aqua-culture operation.

• But, here’s an extraordinary video that deals with much the same problem: global desertification. As you can see from the video, much of the world may be turning into desert. For production may therefore wane, contributing to starvation and violence.

But–as the speaker (Alan Savory) in this video explains, all is not lost. In fact, the solution to many instances of desertification may be to increase grazing on lands that have become arid. Sound nuts? Take the time to view the video. The speaker makes me proud to be a member of mankind. He’s doing something good.

Food For Thought

It’s a Glowing Example Replacing Our depleted Healthy Fishing Industry
Watch this video, you may learn something about the fish called BASA which Coles and Woolworths SELL

For those of you that think Vietnamese Aquaculture is safe watch this clip

The public don’t know how to thank the greens and government for closing down our rural and fishing industries with unworkable engineered legislation that provided healthy produce to be replaced with this toxic crap on our tables.

Australia’s New Contaminated Food Bowl

wellworths

What lunacy have we condoned to allow gas fracking of our only food bowl, our water aquifers and rich farming land?

The same duopoly running the same mining money train driving Australian farming into extinction.

Family farmers of Australia are closing down under Government and Greens hidden agenda. By utilising “designed for failure programs” like wild dog control, unworkable vegetation laws (enforced on their land) paid for irrigation flows diverted to environment projects from crops.  The farmer is financing his own demise from the $400M levies imposed by Government pandering to the Green movement.

The land of plenty is fast becoming the land of bugger-all. The importation of produce is being touted as the viable alternative to home grown. As the infrastructure of the family farm is being systematically disassembled, companies from China, India, Singapore and Japan  are the new owners of Australian farming land acquired from destitute, wild dog affected and despondent farmers who have had enough of the persecution.

These new farmers, who only employ their own nationals send home their Australian produce TAX FREE, and are unhindered by the constraints of Environment Department enforcers, Government stopping exports, such as the direct sale of full cream milk and many more. They seem immune to Green Groups protesting and sabotaging farms, etc, these are but some of the facts Australians have now been reduced to.

The near extinct family farmer, once regarded as the cleanest and healthiest food producer in the world, is being replaced by many  contaminated imports grown and harvested in Australia. Generations that kept the Australian family farm running are no longer there. It’s all too hard! At mercy of the constant threat of jail time, massive fines for non-compliance to a plethora of incomprehensible, vote chasing legislation.  This agenda driven persecution targeting farming families to appease the urban greens is releasing the untouchable, unaccountable and bullyboy law enforcers of government.

Faced with bankruptcy and out of control rates of suicide in rural Australia farmers are choosing careers elsewhere.

Metropolitan people unaware and at this point, unaffected by these facts rely on supermarket doors being open.

Transition from Australian to imported produce on the shelves is smooth with fine print labeling and clever marketing accompanied by attractive pricing. The expectation that food sold by reputable supermarkets is safe leads to a who give a hoot mentality. Except the occasional death and some fish glowing in the freezer maybe.from our new food bowl;

  • Frozen berry products packed in China before distribution in Australia being recalled due to possible hepatitis “A” contamination, with at least five people contracting the disease spread when traces of faecal matter containing the virus come in contact with hands, water or food and then enter a person’s mouth.
  • Victorian hospitals are told to dispose of chocolate mousse, which has been found to contain listeria.
  • Did you know that the CWA (Country Women’s Association) is no longer allowed to provide food in emergencies to volunteer SES , Bushfire fighters as they have done for over 150 years … WHY? … They are not accredited food handlers. The accredited suppliers of food services to these volunteers provide imported produce and bottled water. Do you not find this amazing?

This can only happen with your continual approval of your government sanctioned new food bowl agenda.

BOTH SIDES OF PIG TROUGH DOING WELL AT PUBLIC EXPENSE!

Politicians and their obscenely excessive perquisites (perks)

by Renny Carter

Renny Carter

Renny Carter 53, is an old journo and one of the Liberal Party’s faceless men, who has opinions on anything in Contemporary life.

DON’T SHOOT JOE HOCKEY

The poor bastard has inherited a mess of unprecedented proportions that is going to take a long Liberal tenure to sort out and return to some normality – if at all.

The sad reality is that Australia is made up of three types of people. Workers, bludgers and pensioners. And is desperately trying to claw every dollar they can back from this hurting system…the magnifying glass has momentarily paused above the latter category. Which is sad. We expect the pensioners to be looked after in this country. We don’t want to see elderly people homeless and destitute in Australia. And unlike Italy and Japan – we don’t have a culture of always looking after our senior citizens.

Gagging politicians perks

Pollies silent on perks

I have an immediate idea that could claw back quite a few millions. Means test the (expletive deleted) politicians for a start! Let’s take a few luminaries who really don’t deserve the largesse we give them.

The wastage in this area alone is horrendous and is a massive burden on the taxpayer. Moreover, is it justified? Do we get any value for money? The latest revelation that both Rudd and Gillard get a $200,000 salary for the rest of their natural lives plus enormous travel allowances, office accommodation and staffing costs is an insult given that neither was poor to start with and both now have ‘jobs’. They are young enough to work. Younger than me! If I have to keep working until I am 70 plus, why don’t they?

A study in 2010 by the Daily Telegraph revealed that Mr Rudd, at 52, a young ex-prime minister, will receive well in excess of $20 million worth of allowances if he lives to 85. This is despite the fact he had served just 2 1/2 years as P.M. at that point. This of course has altered even more dramatically with his additional tenure.

Once retired, he is entitled to his own office, worth about $120,000 a year in Brisbane for the rest of his life and four staff, which political insiders say will cost $240,000 a year. What? The Rudd’s new multi-million home doesn’t have room for a home office?

Mr Rudd would also be entitled to the lease of a car worth up to $55,000 for the rest of his life. Leasing experts say this would be worth $1000 to 1500 a month. And Mr Rudd will receive all of these benefits on top of his wife’s estimated $210 million fortune!

Surely this good luck is the result of considerable ‘Government’ work being put her way and rules them out of any more wanton generosity from the Australian people.

Add to this, Gillard. This former communist who has now embraced the capitalist ideal with both arms and not a whimper of complaint I notice. She has already ditched the brick veneer in Altona for a swanky pool-side ponderosa in leafy Adelaide no doubt made possible by a $500,000 salary and ongoing perks.

My point is this. I have had to make cuts to my life because things change. The expensive office I used to lease in Melbourne is gone because, with the Internet I can now work from home. I now use consultants rather than employ up to 10 people which today would send me broke. I now drive a Ute because it is cheaper to register and insure. Cost cutting measures made to ensure I can continue to work in a country that is very much prejudiced against senior aged workers.

Mrs Renny is not happy. I have taken over a picturesque corner of our winter lounge room and in her words – I am a messer! When the drawing board comes out, which it does at least once a month, the kitchen table is also rendered unserviceable. Not to mention several square yards around it.

Why is it then that we continue to provide multiple millions to give these buggers swanky offices to run their now quite irrelevant lives from? I mean what has Hawke’s or Keating’s offices churned out in the past few years that justifies these silly extravagances? Books about them? Utterances from them? Both could be made from their kitchen tables surely! Does an Ex-PM really need an office that costs up to $14,000 a month? They have large homes with room for an office. None lives in a ‘bed-sit’. None even knows what a ‘bed-sit’ is! Maybe they should become pensioners and find out.

Just so I am being even handed here – according to the 2010 figures Keating was in fact the most frugal as he keeps staffing costs low by engaging people on a part-time and ad hoc basis.

Each former PM is entitled to at least two staff, including a senior private secretary, and the annual wages bill of each is nearly $300,000. Mr Keating saves about $70,000 a year by using staff as he needs them instead of full time appointees.

However, new figures have come to light revealing that in the seven months after leaving office, Mr Howard spent $109,892 on limousine services, evenly split between the government Comcar service and private hire cars. Mr Howard’s office rental was the highest at $13,853 a month, closely followed by former PM Malcolm Fraser, whose 101 Collins St office in Melbourne costs taxpayers $12,122 a month.

Former Labor PMs Whitlam and Hawke have offices on adjacent floors in Sydney’s Potts Point at 100 William St The monthly cost for each is $7464 and $7898 respectively. Mr Keating’s office is also in Potts Point, in Manning St, and costs slightly less at $7434 a month.

The former PMs also have their home and mobile phone bills paid by taxpayers, as well as unlimited allowances for publications, a private self-drive car, and air fares for them and their spouse. (Which really irks in the case of Therese Rein who has $210 million in the bank.

These are in addition to their pensions under the generous former Parliamentary superannuation scheme, which gives them a pension INDEXED TO CURRENT MPs’

SALARIES FOR LIFE!

The payout they receive depends on their length of service in Parliament, which is accelerated in the case of prime ministers and their final salary.

Each PM can usually expect to receive about 70 per cent of the incumbent’s salary, unless they chose to take a lump sum on retirement. (I thank the Daily Telegraph for doing the hard yards here with the figures and info.)

I have nothing against paying our PM a wage that reflects the importance of their job, but I have lots against them making millions from us when they a) don’t really need it and b) don’t really deserve it anymore.

But now, the ones facing the fiscal axe, are the poor pensioners who have worked and paid tax all their lives! As for the bludgers.. well that’s a whole separate issue.

THIS STORY MERITS AN APPEARANCE ON THE FRONT PAGE OF EVERY AUSTRALIAN NEWSPAPER – OF COURSE THAT WON’T HAPPEN, SO LET’S CIRCULATE IT FAR AND WIDE BY EMAIL

1080 Poison the Saviour

profession 2014 (1 of 1) (2)I have written much on this in the past as the years have passed in an effort to respond to the anti-wild-dog control voices in this country Australia.

Lately that same anti-voice has tried to use the exploits of their New Zealand counterparts and the use there of, Sodium Fluoroacetate as an environmental protection tool, as being the bad guy at the table. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Much of the knowledge of this poison has come from extremely lengthy research done time and time again so as to appease the environmentalist’s concerns. Most of those concerns were wild and emotional conjecture given breath via a loud and vociferous minority who in fact were, and are, killing the wilds through misguided kindness.

This link goes to the heart of some of the latest research and the most current report available from Aotearoa – The Land of The Long White Cloud – NZ.

If you have a concern over the efficacy; the safety; the cruelty; the environmental effects along with the effectiveness of this chemical in controlling pests for the betterment of all; then this is not just a must read, but it is a must download report to disseminate.

Keep in mind; what NZ does with 1080 is far removed from what Australia does, but the goodness such a deadly naturally occurring chemical does for the very environment we all need, and wish to survive; may not be a panacea, but it has no equal by all accounts.

Lib & Labor Vote Down Dairy Farmers 12c Increase

Robbie Katter Member for Mt IsaThe Member for Mount Isa Robbie Katter said the defeat of a critical Fair Price Milk Bill in Parliament this week was a shattering blow for dairy farmers throughout the State who are being held to ransom and driven into bankruptcy by Coles and Woolworths.

“This Bill, put forward by my colleague and the Member for Dalrymple Shane Knuth and with significant support from the dairy industry, would have helped deliver a meagre additional 8c a litre into the dairy farmers’ pockets.”
Mr Katter declared the vote signalled the death of the National Party in Queensland, that the LNP had been swallowed by the destructive force of “free market Liberalism”, and the Labor Party had shamefully played politics over people.

“A genuine National Party influence in the Parliament would have supported this Bill because they used to care about people on the land and our primary industries.

“This Bill was to provide a ‘fair milk mark’ on each milk bottle so it clearly identifies that the farmers have been paid a fair price.

“What this means is a consumer could go into the local corner store or Coles and Woolworths and when they see the fair milk mark label they know it’s fresh milk, Queensland milk, and farmers are being paid a fair price,” said Mr Katter.

The Bill was defeated amidst some heated exchanges in Parliament, and had the strong support of respected Independents MPs Liz Cunningham (Gladstone) and Peter Wellington (Nicklin), along with his Katter’s Australian Party colleagues.

Mr Katter said the Labor Opposition voted against the Bill without even entering the debate.

“This is despite the fact that the Queensland Dairy Organisation – the industry’s leading representative body – overwhelmingly supported the Bill.

“It was simply politics over people.  They would rather vote against the minority members in Parliament on principle and not examine the positive elements of the Bill which would help those dairy farmers and our dairy industry,” he said.

Mr Katter praised the Member for Gladstone, Liz Cunningham, who said in her support of the Bill: “I believe that overwhelmingly Queenslanders would welcome an opportunity to ensure that our primary producers received a fair price for the commodity that they produce—in this instance, milk.”

“I believe that, like Ms Cunningham, there are some families who would find it difficult to pay a slightly higher price for a local product.

“But we agree there are a huge number of people—a huge number of families—who would pay a small price increase for a product where they knew the dairy farmer was being paid fairly for the work they do.

“The sad part about it is that in the year 2000 there were 1500 dairy farmers, and now there are 496 – an alarming decline,” Mr Katter said.

With our current population at 23 Million, in 2000 we were 18 Million, one could be forgiven for thinking more cows are needed to meet the increase to domestic milk product demand, well you would be wrong. Government opened the flood gates to imported milk products and has thrown our dairy farmers to the wolves.

As Robbie Katter has revealed in Queensland from 2000 until today two thirds of that states dairy farms have closed with the majority of the prime dairy cows being slaughtered, families bankrupted and the remaining 496 perched on the slippery slide to extinction.

This is what you get when unaccountable governments are run by a team of Oil Can Harry’s, all feathering their own nest while the farming industry is being shut down.

What will awaken our population high on the well entrenched political drug “Party Faithful” this illicit concoction of bullshit and promises keeping the inmates quite?

1080 – Environmental Mana from the Sky

Greenie Academic Fiction writer

Greenie Academic Fiction writer

No matter what side of the 1080 – monosodium flouroacetate – environmental poisoning program, both here and in New Zealand one sits on; at the end of this lead-in, is a reasonably comprehensive little story out of New Zealand, all parties and individuals may wish to read.

New Zealand is the pariah to some and the saviour to many – in global terms – when it comes to the use of this pest control process. Un-surprisingly; the anti-1080 movement are forever asking as a spoiling tactic, for testing to be done; testing which has been done so many times before, but the results are never to the liking of these protestors.

It matters not how many times one watches the same race; no amount of reviewing the final outcome will change the result. Just weariness on the part of those involved from having been subjected to the ever persistent and dogmatic views driving the opposition.

Now the fishermen/anglers of New Zealand’s wilderness rivers are at it, and once more, the authorities are doing as they should to appease the concerned and conducting yet again, more trials.
Forget the well published facts from reputable sources where almost ever since 1080 has been under the scrutiny of scientists; it has been known the poison – monosodium flouroacetate – in either rain or flowing water, breaks down to a harmless substance very quickly indeed. The hyperlinked text below here will take you to such a site, but there are many more if one wishes to search.

Naturally occurring bacteria and fungi found in soil, water and bait materials readily break down 1080. It therefore does not cause a build-up of toxic residues in soil, water or plants. 1080’s persistence in the environment depends on rainfall, temperature and amount of bacteria present.

There is considerable variation in susceptibility between species of animals. Dogs and foxes are the most susceptible of all animals to 1080. In general, birds show considerably more resistance than mammals. Cold-blooded animals such as reptiles and fish are the most resistant.

More, again from the Queensland DAFF site

Here are some interesting examples of calculations detailing the risks to humans and wildlife:

• One of the risks of 1080 is the leaching of the 1080 from the impregnated baits due to rainfall. If an area were heavily poisoned using 8 kilos of 6 milligram of wild dog baits per hectare ( containing 48 mg of 1080 per kilogram of bait ), and all of this was leached out due to 50mm of rain, an individual person would need to drink 169 271 L of contaminated water before receiving a lethal dose.

• If a hunter shot a 60kg feral pig that was in the latent period following ingestion of 3kg of 1080 bait (at a rate of 1152mg 1080/kg), and based on the unlikely assumption that half the ingested poison has become evenly distributed through the carcass, that hunter would need to eat 36.1 kg in one sitting before being at risk.

Now New Zealand is without doubt, the laboratory of all laboratories where this substance is concerned, and it is what happens and what the science finds devoid of propaganda from this nation; where all others such as Australia should look to when considering its use.

14 Year Old Wins Debates with O’Leary Over Monsanto GMO

Monsanto seeder at work

America has a 90% factor of Genetically Modified Organisms [GMO] corn grown for human consumption from Monsanto seed factories subjected to just three months of testing,  no peer review, then rubber stamped by a compliant US Government seal of approval – “its safe”.

French government scientists have revealed that rats fed on GMO corn sold by American firm Monsanto, suffered tumors and other complications including kidney and liver damage. When testing the firm’s top brand weed killer the rats showed similar symptoms.

The French health, environment and farm ministries said in a joint statement, “the government will ask the European authorities to take all necessary measures to protect human and animal health, measures that could go as far as an emergency suspension of imports of NK603 maize in the European Union”.

Founder of “Kids Right to Know,” 14 year old Rachel Parent, just wants people to be aware of what’s in their food, and to be able to avoid GMOs if they so wish.  She challenged Canada’s most embarrassing TV host Kevin O’Leary to a debate after his statement on air previously – “Only stupid people protest against Monsanto”.

In the video below, watch O’Leary back pedal when he proposes to run a video his daughter made concerning her change of ideas on GMO after Rachel stated she has seen the video and had issues with it. He immediately changed the subject.

O’Leary was beaten by this 14 year old, clipping his wings forcing his lie and diversions totally exposing this looser.
